Background
- In March 2007, the Sanmar Group acquired 100% of Trust Chemical Industries in Port Said, Egypt and renamed it TCI Sanmar Chemicals LLC (TCI Sanmar).
- Since acquisition, Sanmar has invested US $ 1.5 billion in two phases in the pursuit of creating a world-class, global-scale manufacturing facility for chlor-vinyl molecules including Caustic Soda (275 KT), PVC (400 KT) and Calcium Chloride Granules (135 KT). TCI Sanmar is also the only producer of Bio-Ethylene using sugar-based Ethanol as raw material in the MENA region. It has the capacity to produce 60 KT of Green Ethylene, which supports manufacture of Green attributed PVC.

- TCI Sanmar is the largest producer of all three products – PVC, Caustic Soda and Calcium Chloride – in the MENA region and has a strong incumbent position in the Egyptian market.
- We are also in a good position to leverage free trade agreements and meet the growing deficit for these products in North Africa, the Middle East and in Eastern Mediterranean markets like Turkey and Italy.
- We employ directly around 450 Egyptians besides providing indirect employment to around 2000 persons. It exports 60% of its production globally, thus bringing valuable forex into Egypt. The domestic sales made by the company substitute imports, thus saving forex outgo for Egypt.
- TCI Sanmar supported the Haya Karima project of the Egypt Government through supply of PVC for infra-structure development.
